Matthew seems like a good guy trying to relax with his buddies who got his mood soured by their comments. He likely was already upset from his brother turning the apartment into a pigsty and was hoping hanging with his friends would help him de-stress, but the guy he didn't invite intruding on his space was the first straw and him complaining about the plate was that last straw. Any jokes his buddies would make after that would be seen by Matthew as hostile teasing. I know I've been in that situation before where i'm irritated by my friends over petty stuff and ruin the mood by yelling, only to later regret it after i've calmed down, so i feel for Matthew here.

It's super messed up to be scammed like that. It's not cute or funny to lie about making jokes when they call. This is actually rather serious. Contact local agencies regarding this. It's a waste of tax payer dollars when they have to investigate old crime scene recordings or horror movies. AND they're fricking scammers.
